Description

Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry is a quick and easy Asian-inspired dish featuring tender beef, crisp broccoli, and a flavorful savory sauce. Perfect for weeknight dinners or family meals, it’s nutritious, customizable, and ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/3 cup oyster sauce
  • 1/3 cup sherry
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 3/4 pound beef round steak, cut into 1/8-inch thick strips
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, plus more if needed
  • 1 thin slice fresh ginger root
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and smashed
  • 1 pound broccoli, cut into florets

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef round steak into thin strips and cut broccoli into small florets.
  2. In a bowl, mix oyster sauce, sherry, sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, and cornstarch. Add beef and marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  3. Heat 3 tablespoons vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add ginger and garlic; sauté for 1 minute. Remove and discard.
  4. Add broccoli to the wok. Stir-fry for 5–7 minutes until bright green and almost tender. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add more oil if needed, then add beef and marinade to the wok. Stir-fry for 5 minutes until beef is cooked and sauce thickens.
  6. Return broccoli to the wok. Stir to combine and cook for an additional 3 minutes until heated through.
  7. Serve hot with rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook the broccoli to maintain its crispness.
  • Marinate the beef for at least 30 minutes for maximum flavor.
  • Freeze beef for 20 minutes before slicing to make it easier to cut thinly.
  • Prep all ingredients in advance for faster cooking.
