Description

Beef Stew is a hearty and comforting one-pot meal featuring tender chunks of beef simmered in a flavorful broth with seasonings. It’s perfect for chilly nights and a favorite in households around the world, known for its rich taste and simple preparation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 pounds cubed beef stew meat
  • 3 cups water, divided
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1.075 ounce packet dry brown gravy mix

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and sauté until almost translucent, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add cubed beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in 2 cups of water, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine.
  5. Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Bring mixture to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours until beef is tender.
  7. Mix remaining 1 cup of water with dry brown gravy mix in a small bowl.
  8. Stir the gravy mixture into the stew, bring to a boil, and cook for a few more minutes until thickened.
  9. Serve hot with rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread.

Notes

  • Brown beef in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
  • Use beef broth instead of water for richer flavor.
  • Stew tastes better the next day after the flavors meld.
  • Can be frozen for up to 3 months in airtight containers.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley for added freshness and color.
