Description

Black Magic Cake Pops are rich, chocolatey treats made from crumbled chocolate cake mixed with frosting, shaped into balls, and coated in dark chocolate.


Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting
  • 12 oz dark chocolate
  • Lollipop sticks (about 12)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional)
  • Edible gold dust (optional)
  • Colored sprinkles or edible glitter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  4. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.
  5. Crumble the cooled cake into fine crumbs in a large bowl.
  6. Add the chocolate frosting to the crumbled cake and mix until moist and shape-holding.
  7. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Refrigerate the cake balls for about 30 minutes to firm up.
  9. Melt the dark chocolate and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl.
  10. Dip the tip of each lollipop stick into the melted chocolate and insert it into the center of each cake ball.
  11. Dip each cake pop into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off.
  12. Sprinkle edible gold dust over the chocolate coating if desired.
  13. Place the coated cake pops upright in a stand or Styrofoam block to set for 15-30 minutes.
