Description

Blood Drip Cake Pops are a fun and spooky treat perfect for Halloween or any festive gathering. These delightful cake pops are made from crumbled chocolate cake mixed with frosting, shaped into balls, and coated in a vibrant red candy melt.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix: Check the box for additional ingredients like eggs, oil, and water.
  • 1 cup of chocolate frosting: To bind the crumbled cake together.
  • 12 oz of red candy melts: For the blood drip effect.
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (optional): To thin the candy melts.
  • White lollipop sticks (about 12): To hold the cake pops.
  • Spooky sprinkles (optional): For decoration.
  • Parchment paper: For cooling the cake pops.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the cake mix box instructions and prepare the cake mix as directed.
  2. Once baked, allow the cake to cool completely on a wire rack.
  3. Crumble the cooled cake into fine crumbs using your hands or a fork.
  4. Add the chocolate frosting to the crumbled cake and mix until well combined.
  5. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Refrigerate the cake balls for about 30 minutes to firm them up.
  7. Melt the red candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between.
  8. Dip the tip of each lollipop stick into the melted candy coating, then insert it into each cake ball.
  9. Dip each cake ball into the melted red candy coating, allowing excess to drip off.
  10. To create the blood drip effect, dip the cake pops partially and let the excess drip down.

Notes

  • Experiment with different cake flavors like vanilla, red velvet, or pumpkin spice.
  • Use high-quality candy melts or chocolate coating for best results.
  • Hold the cake pops upside down after dipping to achieve the perfect drip.
  • Store cake pops in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
