Description

Cheesy scalloped potatoes are a creamy, cheesy side dish made with layers of thinly sliced potatoes and a rich cheese sauce.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish.
  4. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, stir in flour, and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Gradually whisk in milk and cream, then add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  6. Stir until the sauce thickens.
  7. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes.
  8. Add the remaining potatoes on top, followed by the rest of the cheese sauce.
  9. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
  10. Bake for 45 minutes or until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.
