Description
Chicken Kiev is a delicious dish featuring tender chicken breasts filled with rich garlic herb butter, creating a crispy exterior and a melted butter surprise inside.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken breasts by pounding them to an even thickness of about 1/2 inch.
- Make the garlic herb butter by mixing softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper, then shape it into a log and chill.
- Assemble the Chicken Kiev by placing a piece of chilled butter in the center of each chicken breast, rolling it up tightly, and securing with toothpicks if necessary.
- Bread the chicken by rolling it in flour, dipping in beaten eggs, and coating with breadcrumbs.
- Cook the Chicken Kiev in hot oil for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through, ensuring the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
Notes
- Choose fresh, organic chicken for better flavor.
- Chill the chicken rolls before frying to keep the butter inside.
- Experiment with different fillings like cheese, spinach, or sun-dried tomatoes.
- For a healthier version, consider baking instead of frying.
