- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup additional chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper or grease it.
- Melt chocolate and butter together in microwave or saucepan until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- Whisk in granulated and brown sugar into the melted chocolate mixture.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Gently fold in flour and salt until just combined; do not overmix. Fold in additional chocolate chips if desired.
- Spread batter evenly in prepared pan, reaching the corners.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes. Check doneness with toothpick—should have moist crumbs but no wet batter.
- Remove from oven and cool in pan for 10–15 minutes. Lift out using parchment paper if used.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares. Serve warm or chilled.
