- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 14 oz can tomato sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package instructions, drain, and reserve ½ cup pasta water.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, sauté garlic for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in tomato sauce, stir, and simmer for 5 minutes, seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Add heavy cream, simmer for 5 minutes, and stir in Parmesan cheese until smooth.
- Add cooked pasta to the skillet, toss until well-coated with sauce, and add reserved pasta water if needed to adjust the sauce’s thickness.
- Mix in fresh basil, taste, and adjust seasoning. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Ensure pasta is cooked al dente for the best texture.
- For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or coconut cream.
- Fresh basil is preferred, but dried basil can be used (one-third the amount).
- Reserve pasta water to adjust sauce consistency.
