Description
Ditalini with Peas and Parmesan is a comforting and creamy pasta dish made with small tube-shaped pasta, fresh or frozen peas, and grated Parmesan cheese. It’s an easy and flavorful meal perfect for family dinners or entertaining guests.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ditalini pasta
- 2 cups fresh or frozen peas
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup vegetable or chicken broth
- Optional: fresh herbs (like basil or mint) for garnish
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the ditalini pasta and cook until al dente (8-10 minutes). Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the peas to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes until heated through.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet, stir gently, and pour in the vegetable or chicken broth. Add reserved pasta water if the mixture is too dry.
- Sprinkle in the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring to combine and create a creamy sauce. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Cook for another 1-2 minutes until everything is well mixed and creamy. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired before serving.
Notes
- Do not overcook the pasta to maintain its texture.
- Reserve enough pasta water to help create a creamy sauce.
- Experiment with different herbs like thyme or parsley to enhance flavor.
- For a lighter dish, reduce olive oil and use extra broth.
