Description

Ditalini with Peas and Parmesan is a comforting and creamy pasta dish made with small tube-shaped pasta, fresh or frozen peas, and grated Parmesan cheese. It’s an easy and flavorful meal perfect for family dinners or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ditalini pasta
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen peas
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup vegetable or chicken broth
  • Optional: fresh herbs (like basil or mint) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the ditalini pasta and cook until al dente (8-10 minutes). Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the peas to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes until heated through.
  4. Add the drained pasta to the skillet, stir gently, and pour in the vegetable or chicken broth. Add reserved pasta water if the mixture is too dry.
  5. Sprinkle in the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring to combine and create a creamy sauce. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  6. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until everything is well mixed and creamy. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the pasta to maintain its texture.
  • Reserve enough pasta water to help create a creamy sauce.
  • Experiment with different herbs like thyme or parsley to enhance flavor.
  • For a lighter dish, reduce olive oil and use extra broth.
