Description

This easy ground beef goulash recipe is a hearty one-pot meal combining pasta, beef, tomatoes, and spices. Perfect for family dinners or busy weeknights, it’s full of flavor and simple to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 3 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans petite diced tomatoes
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 2 cups uncooked macaroni noodles
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Add diced onion and green bell pepper. Cook for 3–5 minutes until softened.
  3. Add ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Add minced garlic and stir for 30 seconds.
  5. Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, Italian seasoning, and bay leaves.
  6. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Add uncooked macaroni noodles and continue simmering until pasta is tender.
  8. Remove bay leaves and stir in shredded cheddar cheese just before serving.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook the pasta to avoid mushy texture.
  • Add more broth or water if the mixture becomes too thick.
  • For extra flavor, stir in a splash of red wine or a dollop of sour cream before serving.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated; flavors deepen over time.
  • Freeze portions in airtight containers for up to 3 months.
