- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 3 teaspoons garlic, minced
- 2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 2 (15 ounce) cans petite diced tomatoes
- 3 cups beef broth
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
- 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
- 3 bay leaves
- 2 cups uncooked macaroni noodles
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
- Add diced onion and green bell pepper. Cook for 3–5 minutes until softened.
- Add ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add minced garlic and stir for 30 seconds.
- Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, Italian seasoning, and bay leaves.
- Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add uncooked macaroni noodles and continue simmering until pasta is tender.
- Remove bay leaves and stir in shredded cheddar cheese just before serving.
Notes
- Don’t overcook the pasta to avoid mushy texture.
- Add more broth or water if the mixture becomes too thick.
- For extra flavor, stir in a splash of red wine or a dollop of sour cream before serving.
- Can be made ahead and reheated; flavors deepen over time.
