Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can stewed tomatoes
- 1 1/2 cups water (or as needed)
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (or more to taste)
- 1 pinch garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat a large saucepan over medium heat. Add ground beef and chopped onion. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5–7 minutes until beef is browned and onions are translucent.

- Season with chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to evenly distribute the spices.
- Bring chili to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve hot with your favorite toppings like cheese, sour cream, or green onions.
Notes
- Adjust chili powder to control spiciness.
- Use ground turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter or vegetarian version.
- Freeze leftovers in portioned containers for easy reheating.
- For extra flavor, sauté spices before adding tomatoes.
- A splash of vinegar at the end can brighten flavors.
