Description
Easy Teriyaki Chicken is a delicious, simple dish that brings a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. It’s quick to make and perfect for family meals or gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (preferably low-sodium)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
- Sliced green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cut the chicken into bite-sized chunks and pat it dry with paper towels.
- Mix the teriyaki sauce by combining soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger (if using) in a bowl. Stir until sugar dissolves.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
- Drizzle the teriyaki sauce over the chicken and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the chicken. Stir occasionally to avoid burning.
- Remove from heat, garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions (if desired). Serve immediately.
Notes
- To avoid overcooking, monitor the chicken closely and use a meat thermometer to ensure it reaches 165°F (75°C).
- For a thicker sauce, let it simmer longer to reduce.
- Marinate the chicken in the sauce for 30 minutes to enhance flavor.
- If desired, use a mix of dark and light soy sauce for a richer flavor profile.
