A fun and creative dessert perfect for Halloween, featuring rich, fudgy brownies topped with crushed cookies and gummy worms to create a spooky graveyard effect.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter
- 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (90g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup (150g) chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos), crushed
- 1 cup (150g) gummy worms
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) baking pan.
- Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over low heat, then cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter and granulated sugar, whisking until well mixed.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Sift together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes, then lift them out using parchment paper.
- Crush the chocolate sandwich cookies into fine crumbs for the “dirt” topping.
- Cut the cooled brownies into squares, sprinkle crushed cookies on top, and add gummy worms for decoration.
Notes
- For a fudgier texture, slightly underbake the brownies.
- Consider adding nuts or chocolate chips for extra flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
