Description
Honey garlic chicken thighs are tender and juicy, with a perfect balance of sweetness from honey and savory flavors from soy sauce and garlic.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 boneless chicken thighs (5 ounces each)
- Salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 7 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1 cup honey
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1 pinch onion powder
- 1 pinch garlic powder
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients and prep the chicken, onion, and garlic.
- Heat olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the seasoned chicken thighs for 3-5 minutes on each side.
- Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking for 5-7 minutes until soft and aromatic. Remove the chicken and set it aside.
- In the same skillet, combine honey, soy sauce, onion powder, and garlic powder, stirring to mix the browned bits into the sauce.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes, turning halfway through to ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
- Serve the chicken, pour the sauce over it, and garnish with chopped cilantro.
Notes
- Ensure the skillet is not overcrowded to avoid uneven cooking.
- Let the sauce simmer longer if you prefer it thicker.
- Use fresh garlic and honey for maximum flavor.
