- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup soy sauce or coconut aminos
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
- 1 cup cold filtered water
- Optional: green onion, scallions, parsley, sesame seeds
- 1–2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with equal amount of cold water (for thickening)
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon sesame oil.
- Add the beef pieces in batches to avoid overcrowding and brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Transfer browned beef evenly into the slow cooker.
- In a bowl, whisk together minced garlic, honey, ketchup, soy sauce (or coconut aminos), and dried oregano or Italian seasoning.
- Pour the sauce over the beef in the slow cooker and coat evenly.
- Add 1 cup cold filtered water and stir gently to combine.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 4-6 hours.
- After 4 hours, check beef tenderness. If desired, mix cornstarch slurry and stir into the sauce to thicken, cooking an additional 30 minutes.
- Finish by garnishing with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

- Do not overcrowd the pan while browning to ensure proper caramelization.
- Marinate beef for a few hours or overnight for deeper flavor.
- Adjust cornstarch slurry to desired sauce thickness.
