Description

Honey Garlic Steak Bites are tender beef pieces cooked in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Perfect as an appetizer or main dish, these flavorful steak bites are easy to prepare using a slow cooker, Instant Pot, or Dutch oven. The combination of honey, garlic, soy sauce, and ketchup creates a luscious sauce that pairs beautifully with the beef, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions for an extra touch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds beef, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce or coconut aminos
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup cold filtered water
  • Optional: green onion, scallions, parsley, sesame seeds
  • 12 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with equal amount of cold water (for thickening)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon sesame oil.
  2. Add the beef pieces in batches to avoid overcrowding and brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Transfer browned beef evenly into the slow cooker.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together minced garlic, honey, ketchup, soy sauce (or coconut aminos), and dried oregano or Italian seasoning.
  5. Pour the sauce over the beef in the slow cooker and coat evenly.
  6. Add 1 cup cold filtered water and stir gently to combine.
  7. Cover and cook on LOW for 4-6 hours.
  8. After 4 hours, check beef tenderness. If desired, mix cornstarch slurry and stir into the sauce to thicken, cooking an additional 30 minutes.
  9. Finish by garnishing with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the pan while browning to ensure proper caramelization.
  • Marinate beef for a few hours or overnight for deeper flavor.
  • Adjust cornstarch slurry to desired sauce thickness.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
  • Freeze leftovers up to 3 months in a freezer-safe container.
  • Reheat gently on stovetop or microwave with a splash of water to maintain moisture.
  • Substitute beef with chicken, tofu, mushrooms, or tempeh for dietary preferences.
