Description
Lahmacun is a Turkish flatbread topped with minced meat and vegetables.
Ingredients

- 1 cup warm water
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 pound ground lamb or beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Knead until smooth.
- Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour.
- In a pan, sauté onion and garlic until soft. Add ground meat, cook until browned.
- Mix in tomatoes, bell pepper, tomato paste, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Divide dough into equal pieces. Roll each piece into a thin circle.
- Spread the meat mixture evenly over each circle.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are crispy.
- Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- Serve with lemon wedges and fresh vegetables.
- Can be made in advance and reheated.
- Adjust spices according to your taste.
