Description
Mujadara is a traditional Middle Eastern dish made with lentils, rice, and caramelized onions.
Ingredients

- 1 cup lentils
- 1 cup rice
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 4 cups water
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the lentils and soak them for 30 minutes.
- In a pot, heat olive oil over medium heat and add the sliced onions. Cook until caramelized.
- Add the lentils to the pot and pour in water. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Add rice, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
- Cover and cook for another 20 minutes until rice is tender.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Serve with yogurt or salad.
- Adjust spices according to your taste.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
