Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 ounces elbow macaroni or similar, cooked and drained
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with cooking spray or olive oil.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, onion, and bell pepper. Cook for 5–7 minutes until beef is browned and vegetables are soft. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic, tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- In the prepared baking dish, combine cooked pasta with the meat mixture and stir until evenly coated.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from oven, let cool for a few minutes, then serve warm.
Notes
- Use ground turkey or plant-based meat as a substitute for ground beef.
- Don’t overcook the pasta as it will continue to cook in the oven.
- For extra flavor, sauté the onions and peppers until slightly caramelized before adding the beef.
- Top with fresh herbs, sour cream, or jalapeños for added flair.
- Can be made ahead and stored in the fridge or freezer before baking.
