Description

Classic Sloppy Joes with ground beef cooked in a savory sauce, served on soft buns. Easy, hearty, and perfect comfort food for family meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or ground steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup steak sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • Optional: 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Optional: 1/4 cup sliced pickles for garnish
  • Optional: 1/4 cup crispy fried onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic for 3-4 minutes until soft and fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned and no longer pink, about 6-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in steak sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and beef broth. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Toast burger buns lightly in a toaster or skillet.
  5. Spoon the meat mixture onto the bottom buns. Add optional cheddar cheese, pickles, and crispy fried onions if desired. Cover with top buns and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use medium heat to avoid tough meat.
  • Season early for better flavor development.
  • Try adding cayenne or hot sauce for spice.
  • Substitute ground turkey or lentils for vegetarian options.
  • Store leftovers in airtight container; separate buns and filling.
  • Reheat gently to avoid drying out.
