Description

Soft pretzel bites served with a creamy cheese dip.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sea salt
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  5. Divide dough into small pieces and shape into bites.
  6. Boil water and baking soda in a pot. Add pretzel bites for 30 seconds.
  7. Remove and place on a baking sheet. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle sea salt.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. For cheese dip, melt butter, add flour and whisk for 1 minute.
  10. Add milk and stir until thickened. Mix in cheese until melted.
  11. Serve pretzel bites warm with cheese dip.
