- 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter
- 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (90 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (175 g) chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over low heat, then combine it with granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt, then gradually add to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- If desired, fold in chocolate chips, then pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, cut into squares and place a candy eyeball on top of each brownie, pressing down gently.
- For an extra spooky effect, drizzle melted white chocolate over the brownies before adding the eyeballs.
